i’m jealous of gabriel dawe

Gasp! Can you imagine seeing this rainbow in person?! If you did, that means you were in Como, Italy for Miniartextil, and that you were one of the lucky people to see this unbelievable thread installation by Mexican artist Gabriel Dawe. If you were, in fact, one of those people, you’re officially added to my list of people to be jealous of! This. Is. Stunning!

i’m jealous of faig ahmed

Whoa. An embroidered “carpet”, on a wall, partly finished, and then stretched across the room. This insane installation is the work of  Faig Ahmed. He is a master of textiles, and clearly has a thing for carpets… and I have a thing for his work! Not only has he created this beautiful embroidery installation, but there’s also this:

A wooden wave, covered in a woolen, handmade carpet. Whoa… x 2. Oh, and also, this:

A ’stretched’ handmade carpet. Whoa… x 3. And on that crazy beautiful note, I hope you all have a lovely weekend ~ see you on Monday!

i’m still jealous of hagar van heummen

Um… little houses AND embroidery? Yes. This is a direct path to my heart! I wrote about Amsterdam based artist Hagar Vardimon-van Heummen last year, and then yesterday I saw her latest body of work… well, you know I had to post it! These pieces are from a series titled “Lonely Houses”. Hm, they wouldn’t be lonely if they were hanging together in my house! But wait, there’s more! Look at these strange little gems:

Sigh. Gorgeous. And with that, have an amazing weekend! Make sure you come by on Tuesday… it’s my 1000th post, which can only mean one thing – it’s time for “THE 1000th POST GIVE-AWAY EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!” Seriously. Some amazing artists have donated work that I’ll be bundling up and sending off to one of you! Can I get a ‘woot woot’!

i’m still jealous of stacey page

I wrote about American artist Stacey Page almost two years ago… well, clearly she’s been busy, and so clearly I have to write about her again! Portraits & embroidery? Yep, it gets me every single time. Gah!

i’m jealous of allison watkins

Allison Watkins is an American artist based in San Francisco… and this is her “closet in San Francisco”. Yep, that’s the title of this gorgeous embroidery piece. The detail {and lack of detail} is absolutely beautiful to me {♥} I wonder if I could get her to come over and embroider my closet… hm, I better go and buy some prettier clothes!

i’m jealous of rachel castle… x 3

First of all, I’m jealous of Australian artist Rachel Castle because of these:

Ah, gorgeous textile work… with what I’m pretty sure is the perfect amount of neon felt. And then, of course, I had to show these:

Acrylic paintings on linen. Hello lovely organic shapes & stunning color choices… but boy oh boy, whatever you do, do not get me started on this stuff:

Gah! Art, and bedding, and dresses, oh my! Where does this girl’s talent end?! No, seriously… where?

{ps. I love the scale of the felt piece hanging above. Gorgeous. I need this in my house. Immediately.}

i’m jealous of briar mark

Yep, I could have done this on my Mac too… but I didn’t, and neither did Auckland based artist & designer Briar Mark. She hand-stitched it all. Hilarious, and an excellent statement on craft vs. technology. LOVE! Speaking of love, check out this time lapse video of her hard at work…

i’m jealous of julie cockburn

Ok. Yes. More faceless portraits. Clearly I can’t control myself, but hey, the heart wants what the heart wants… and my heart wants people with rainbow-hued embroidery on their faces, and vintage photos that have been snipped to bits and put back together into amazing kaleidoscope-ish configurations. London based artist Julie Cockburn, and her amazing portfolio, have everything my heart is looking for… and then some!

i’m jealous of sarah walton

Sigh. I absolutely love these pieces by UK based artist Sarah Walton… her squiggly embroidery, those floopy hounds, and a whole bunch of crazy/vintage floral patterns. Um, I have nothing else to say, as I am currently experiencing some kind of jealousy overload.

i’m jealous of random loveliness

I find all sorts of amazing bits & pieces in my travels around the internet. I usually post them to my “random lovely things” board on Pinterest, but today I thought I’d share a few of my favorites with you… a lovely/random way to kick off the weekend, yes? I didn’t fully realize {ok, I had a hunch}, that I seem to have a thing for neons & neutrals…

… ahhh, finished off with an amazing piece by Banksy. Ok, everything in this post makes me want to make stuff… good thing it’s the weekend! See you on Monday : )
