Nope, it’s not a show about dandruff… it’s an exhibition of portraits by nine very diverse, and incredibly talented, artists.
If you had asked me a year ago if I was a fan of portraits, honestly I would have been a bit indifferent. However, over the past few months I’ve found myself gravitating to the beautiful, sad, strange, and mysterious faces that are looking back at me, each one with it’s own story to tell. They have the power to make you feel their emotions, and it’s nearly impossible to stop yourself from imagining the narrative that goes along with all of those penetrating stares. Perhaps it’s the familiarity of another human face that’s appealing, but what interests me is how something that familiar to all of us, can be expressed so uniquely. No matter what the medium, every portrait in head + shoulders can tell you a story… you just have to listen.
