i’m jealous of susanna bauer
Embroidery & crochet. On leaves. And rocks. And sticks.

Gah! My artistic mind is officially blown. These stunning little pieces are the work of Cornwall based artist Susanna Bauer, and yes, I am now planning to spend my weekend looking for leaves, and rocks, and sticks. Maybe I’ll be able to convince Susanna to cover them in yarn! ♥

i’m jealous of emmy star brown

Paint on found glass {I would love to try that!}. This is the swirly, perfect, hand-painted work of Chicago based artist Emmy Star Brown. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few weeks ago – she was one of the attendees at GIRL CRUSH Philly. {Boy oh boy, there are some very talented ladies at those tea parties!}
Anywho, not only does Emmy specialize in beautiful organic shapes, but she also makes these:

So sweet! But wait, there’s more… check out a few grabs {or the full video} of the project that Emmy did with Sharpie. I absolutely love this campaign – amazing artists working on some pretty crazy surfaces!

Fantastic!
i’m jealous of amanda jasnowski

If my hands were this lovely & delicate, I’d photograph them in a zillion settings too! Amanda Jasnowski is an American photographer who relocated from Ohio to New York, three weeks ago… just in time for the hurricane! Don’t worry, she and her hands are just fine.
i’m jealous of henrik aarrestad uldalen

Oh my. These are the eerily dreamy paintings of Oslo based artist Henrik Aarrestad Uldalen. Are they asleep? Are they dreaming? Dreaming about falling? All of the above? Hm, I’m just going to have a quick nap, and then we can discuss it.
i’m jealous of max wanger

Oh, so dreamy. This is the polaroid work of LA based photographer Max Wanger. All of his photographs are gorgeous, but these polaroids… oh my. I want to live in his sunny, overexposed world!
i’m jealous of natalya lobanova

Um, I love these…. LOVE these! Hilarious, thoughtful, funny drawings by Natalya Lobanova. It is meant to be upside down, right?

i’m jealous of valerie chiang

Ahhh… is it summer yet?! If I just stare directly at the work of LA based artist/film student Valerie Chiang I think I could make myself believe that it’s the middle of July. So, so lovely. However, it is November 1st, and I do love the coziness of fall and winter:

Ah, yes… who wants a peppermint hot chocolate!
i’m jealous of marcel dzama

Ooooooooh, spooky! I have to admit, I’ve had these drawings, by Canadian artist Marcel Dzama in my bookmarks folder since August… and yes, I was waiting til Hallowe’en to post them! Creepy trees, girls in masks, and a group of bat-scouts! YES!!! Not only is his creepy subject matter perfect for today, but so are his art supplies… ink, watercolor, AND rootbeer concentrate! Now that’s my kind o’ sweet treat!
Have a safe and happy Hallowe’en tonight!!!
i’m jealous of trey speegle’s show

Oh! I cannot believe I missed this just by a few days! “GOOD LUCK WITH THAT” was an amazing show {that just came down a week ago – sorry!} by American artist Trey Speegle, at Benrimon Contemporary in New York. I’ve only shown a fraction of the amazing work that was included… although, I was tempted to show it all! Here’s a little peek:

Gah! Paint by numbers on mirror?! Paint cans that promise a better future? YES!!! Oh, and then there are these numeric gems:

… and these:

Sigh. This entire show makes me want to run {not walk} to my studio, lock myself in, and just make stuff for days… hm, maybe I’ll start with a paint-by-number kit!
i’m jealous of gabriel dawe

Gasp! Can you imagine seeing this rainbow in person?! If you did, that means you were in Como, Italy for Miniartextil, and that you were one of the lucky people to see this unbelievable thread installation by Mexican artist Gabriel Dawe. If you were, in fact, one of those people, you’re officially added to my list of people to be jealous of! This. Is. Stunning!
