This is the collage, and or drawing, and or paper-cutting, and or printmaking work of California based artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisewehle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Elise Wehle<\/a>. I came across her work for the first time a few weeks ago when I was judging the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uncommongoods.com\/2013\/cloudy-mountainscape-win\/\" target=\"_blank\">UncommonGoods art contest<\/a>&#8230; one look at her portfolio and we knew we had a winner! \u00a0You can see why, right?! \u00a0She&#8217;ll be selling prints through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncommongoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">UncommonGoods<\/a>, but boy or boy, I sure would like to see an original up-close n&#8217; personal! Beautiful. Speaking of beautiful, read her artist statement&#8230; it&#8217;s perfect:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;I make the art I do to pull me away from the increasingly digital world that surrounds me. Every day I spend so much time in front of a glowing screen that sometimes I forget I possess five bodily senses and not just one or two. Making art makes me conscious of my hands again, and all of my work requires time-intensive, redundant movements that remind me that not everything is as instantaneous as a click of a mouse.
