This is the stunning work of Hawaii based artist <em>{and Associate Professor of Art at the University of Hawaii\u00a0at\u00a0Monoa}<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wendykawabata.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wendy\u00a0Kawabata<\/a>. I&#8217;m going to let her explain what this series, titled &#8220;Blind Worlds&#8221; is about:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span class=\"s1\">This series looks at a range of social engagement from pacifism to activism,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"s1\">futility, rebuilding; the paths we travel, the ones we don\u02bct, the urge to protect,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"s1\">to defend, or withdraw; the voices heard, the ones drowned out. Wrapping\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"s1\">thread, piercing paper with a needle, or staining and seaming together paper,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"s1\">reveal a process that is overt in its construction and economy, and provide\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"s1\">a space for quiet, reconciliation, and attentiveness.
