The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NWMA<\/a>), the world\u2019s only major museum solely dedicated to celebrating great women artists, has announced a new social media campaign for this March\u2019s Women\u2019s History Month. If you ask someone to name five artists, they will likely name prominent male artists, but how many people can list five women artists? To increase awareness the museum will launch the campaign \u201cCan you name five women artists?\u201d March 1<\/strong> on its website and blog<\/a> as well as on social media outlets, including Facebook<\/a>, Twitter<\/a> and Instagram<\/a>. Using the hashtag #5womenartists<\/a>, the campaign will encourage NMWA\u2019s online community to help address the gender imbalance in the presentation of art both in the United States and internationally.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oh, I am so<\/em> in… mind you,\u00a0I could name 500<\/strong><\/em> women artists that I love, but I’ll play by the rules. Here are 5 of my {many}<\/em> favorite artists, who also happen to be women:<\/p>\n

Ok, now it’s your turn\u00a0– jump on those social media channels and name #5womenartists<\/strong> whose work you love\u00a0{contemporary or historical}<\/em>\u00a0and help make it really easy for people to be able to name five women artists\u00a0\u2665<\/p>\n
