I finally get to ask LA based artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brookssalzwedel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brooks Salzwedel<\/a>\u00a0the how, what and why behind\u00a0his ethereal work.\u00a0Listen right up there under that dreamy forest,\u00a0or you can\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/podcast\/jealous-curator-art-for-your\/id996338562\" target=\"_blank\">subscribe on iTunes<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, a few of my favorites. Note the yellowed tape&#8230; we talk about that a little later in the episode. Not surprising&#8230; it&#8217;s gorgeous art for your pants!<\/p>\n<p>I loved this next part&#8230; it was infectious to hear how excited he was about this residency in Alaska. Clearly &#8220;nature boy&#8221; was in his element. I found a bunch of great images from this trip in his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/brooks_salzwedel\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram feed<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/brooks_salzwedel\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25272\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/brooks4.jpg\" alt=\"brooks4\" width=\"584\" height=\"2219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/brooks4.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/brooks4-79x300.jpg 79w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Ah,<\/em> so beautiful. The image directly above is of Denali and was taken at 1am! Oh Alaskan nights. And that middle image is the &#8220;sideset&#8221; sunset he was talking about. I asked if any of those &#8220;sidesets&#8221; have made it into his work, and indeed they have! Dreamy, mysterious, so beautifully done. Ok, now it&#8217;s time to look for hidden treasure. In quite a few of his pieces, Brooks will add little details&#8230; some with personal meaning, and some just for fun <em>{because who doesn&#8217;t like a dinosaur}<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brookssalzwedel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/brooks6.jpg\" alt=\"brooks6\" width=\"584\" height=\"2813\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/brooks6.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/brooks6-62x300.jpg 62w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ah! I love those so much! The color, the details, the fog&#8230; all of it!<\/p>\n<p>Now, as usual, the speed round led to a very interesting little tidbit.
