All of these oil on panel pieces are from her 2013 series, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/hayvkahraman.com\/12\/extimacy_1.html\" target=\"_blank\">Extimacy<\/a>. <\/em>I love this quote she gave\u00a0in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a> article about this work:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cHaving these women violently detaching their limbs, for me, is very reminiscent of the psyche of a refugee, and that sense of detachment you have from your land that you\u2019ve had to leave behind. That\u2019s the idea of the diasporic women, who are fragmented, or cyborgs almost.
