These colorful\u00a0layers of\u00a0dots and lines are\u00a0the work of\u00a0Kansas based painter <a href=\"http:\/\/jaimerovenstine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jaime Rovenstine<\/a>. She is an artist, works full-time at a museum, and is the mother of a beautiful little girl. How does she do that?! Don&#8217;t worry, I asked her. I also really wanted to show a couple of Jaime&#8217;s &#8220;in progress&#8221; pieces. I&#8217;d hang these on my wall right this very second&#8230; but she&#8217;s a &#8220;maximalist&#8221; so she keeps on going. Fair enough. She&#8217;s the pro!<\/p>\n<p>So, we also talked about Jaime&#8217;s very busy life. She works at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nelson-atkins.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nelson Atkins Museum of Art<\/a>\u00a0in Kansas City, comes home for dinner \/ bath \/ books with her family, and then makes her way into the studio<em> {or the couch for Netflix depending on the day}:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jaimerovenstine\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26054\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine4.jpg\" alt=\"jaimerovenstine4\" width=\"584\" height=\"1609\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine4.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine4-109x300.jpg 109w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine4-372x1024.jpg 372w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How great is that self-portrait in the reflection on her brush&#8230; love!\u00a0<em>{found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jaimerovenstine\/\" target=\"_blank\">her dreamy\u00a0Instagram feed<\/a>}.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We also talked about the evolution of her work. In college she was already starting down the path she&#8217;s on now:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jaimerovenstine.com\/category\/2009\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26055\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine5.jpg\" alt=\"jaimerovenstine5\" width=\"584\" height=\"1633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine5.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine5-107x300.jpg 107w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/jaimerovenstine5-366x1024.jpg 366w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Similar but they&#8217;re definitely deeper and richer now. <a href=\"http:\/\/jaimerovenstine.com\/category\/2009\/\" target=\"_blank\">The piece just above, with the phonograph<\/a>, is the painting that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colum.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Columbia College Chicago<\/a> <em>{the art school she went to}<\/em> bought when she graduated&#8230; it&#8217;s also the piece inspired by patterns in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anthropologie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anthropologie<\/a>\u00a0catalog!<\/p>\n<p>And finally&#8230; I started this post with a few of my favorites, and I&#8217;ll end it with a few more.
