And now,\u00a0if it&#8217;s even possible, I love it even more. Tina\u00a0is obviously insanely talented, but I found out today that she&#8217;s\u00a0also very\u00a0smart, poetic, funny&#8230; and organized! I tried not to gush too much, but &#8220;fan-girling&#8221; was the name of the game. How can I not fan-girl over her! Now, here&#8217;s where the smart\/organized part comes in. I love love love this system and I am totally going to implement it in my studio, and I honestly think every artist should. She comes back to the CRAP and NOT SO GOOD boxes later and uses those pages for collage bits, or as a base for new work. Truly brilliant, and a\u00a0perfect\u00a0jumping off point for creativity.<\/p>\n<p>Next, one of my favorite projects <em>ever<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinaberning.de\/100-girls-book\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;100 GIRLS ON CHEAP PAPER&#8221;<\/a>&#8230; which is exactly that:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinaberning.de\/100-girls-book\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26750\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning4.jpg\" alt=\"tinaberning4\" width=\"584\" height=\"1901\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning4.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning4-92x300.jpg 92w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning4-315x1024.jpg 315w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So beautiful. This project started online, it then became a book, and then a show&#8230;\u00a0and then a <em>traveling<\/em> show. Most of the girls from the original exhibition sold, so when it traveled to New York and Japan, Tina had to paint 80 new women for each show! Here are two pieces\u00a0from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinaberning.de\/new-york-girls\" target=\"_blank\">NY<\/a> and two from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinaberning.de\/tokyo\" target=\"_blank\">Tokyo<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinaberning.de\/tokyo\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26751\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning5.jpg\" alt=\"tinaberning5\" width=\"584\" height=\"2075\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning5.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/tinaberning5-288x1024.jpg 288w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Do you know how much self control was required for me not to post <em>all<\/em> of the pieces from this series? Very. Difficult.<\/p>\n<p>So, when you work on vintage found paper, most of your work will be small&#8230; unless you use old record album slips, or stitch lots of small pages together. Yes.
