I had Philadelphia based artist <a href=\"http:\/\/cargocollective.com\/martharich\" target=\"_blank\">Martha Rich<\/a>\u00a0as my guest on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2015\/05\/22\/meat-and-cake-and-lobsters-and-wigs\/\" target=\"_blank\">VERY FIRST Art For Your Ear<\/a>, 71 episodes ago&#8230; <em>annnnnd<\/em>,\u00a0she&#8217;s back! <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chroniclebooks.com\/titles\/your-inner-critic-is-a-big-jerk.html\" target=\"_blank\">The book we worked on together<\/a> was just released this past Tuesday, so what better way to celebrate than having Martha come on the podcast to talk about inner critics, pantyhose, and the possibility that\u00a0armadillos are actually dinosaurs that still roam our planet. For reals. You know, things like painting on rocks and leaving them around Philadelphia to be found by passers-by, and also working on a\u00a0painting a day for a year type of projects:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/14\/arma-dino\/martharich3-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26998\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26998\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/martharich3.jpg\" alt=\"martharich3\" width=\"584\" height=\"784\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/martharich3.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/martharich3-223x300.jpg 223w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How badly do I want the finger rock!? Sooooo badly.<\/p>\n<p>And now, onto the book&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chroniclebooks.com\/titles\/your-inner-critic-is-a-big-jerk.html\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk&#8221;<\/a>. We worked on this for almost two years, and had so much fun together&#8230; mind you, we both also\u00a0had a few very meta moments when our inner critics told us there was no way we could pull this off. Luckily we ignored those jerks and got it done! Here&#8217;s a few pieces from the book <em>{including the &#8220;speech bubble coming out of a butt&#8221;}<\/em>, and some of Martha&#8217;s sketches:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/14\/arma-dino\/martharich4\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26999\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26999\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/martharich4.jpg\" alt=\"martharich4\" width=\"584\" height=\"3764\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/martharich4.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/martharich4-159x1024.jpg 159w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>LOVE!<\/strong> Those final two paintings are the pieces that got into this year&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ai-ap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">American Illustration Magazine<\/a>! Very big deal in the illustration world and so exciting for Martha <em>{and me&#8230; living vicariously}<\/em>. I wish I could be there this November to see them hanging on the wall at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ai-ap.com\/events\/theparty\/\" target=\"_blank\">the big par-tay<\/a>, but at least I got to be there last year. Quite a venue for a party <em>{ps. I think Sarah Jessica Parker got married there.}<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next&#8230; SPEECH BUBBLES! And, that little guy is a perfect segue\u00a0into one of the not-so-speedy speed round questions&#8230; favorite animal to draw? Oh my word, hilarious! Please don&#8217;t judge us!!! Conveniently, she &#8220;couldn&#8217;t find it&#8221;, so\u00a0now I&#8217;m\u00a0forced to make a guess as to what she and &#8220;Mark&#8221; looked like at their Senior Prom. I bet this painting is pretty darn close!<\/p>\n<p>And the final question in the not-so-speedy speed round&#8230; would she rather &#8220;wear pantyhose everyday for the rest of her life, or shave her head&#8221;.
