Perfectly painted petals, illustrated blooms, flat graphic\u00a0backgrounds&#8230; and those vases circa 1966-ish? I LOVE IT ALL! These paintings are the work of New Zealand based artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendymatenga.com\/fine-art\">Wendy\u00a0Matenga<\/a>, and this is a chunk of her lovely artist statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><em>&#8220;I currently have an obsession with flowers, I love painting them because I can arrange them like a florist can and then play with them in ways a florist can\u2019t, <strong>floristry with a brush<\/strong>. I feel the need to honor them with accurate rendering before I allow myself to play. I am immensely thankful to be living in a time when there are so many different medias available and so many artists before me and around me to be inspired by.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"font_8\">Amen, sister.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These bouquets, all of them, I need them.
