Flaming cars burning across the wide open skies of the Canadian Prairies&#8230; why? Well, you&#8217;re about to find out! Today I&#8217;m talking to Canadian painter <a href=\"http:\/\/seanwilliamrandall.com\/\">Sean William Randall<\/a>.\u00a0We&#8217;ve been trying to make this happen since August, and today is finally the day! You can listen to our conversation right under that &#8220;tranquil&#8221; nightscape, or\u00a0you can\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/podcast\/jealous-curator-art-for-your\/id996338562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">subscribe on iTunes<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>First up, the painting Sean did for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/03\/that-night-in-toronto-art-show\/\">&#8220;That Night In Toronto&#8221;<\/a>, the show I curated this past July at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayberryfineart.com\/\">Mayberry Fine Art<\/a> in, you guessed it, Toronto. I asked each of the ten Canadian artists in the show to make a piece inspired by any lyric from any <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehip.com\/\">&#8220;Tragically Hip&#8221;<\/a> song, as an ode to an iconic Canadian band whose front man, Gord Downie, had recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. This was the piece Sean made, titled <em>&#8220;I thought of leaving it behind&#8221;<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/13\/balance-brushstrokes-burning-cars\/seanrandall2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29807\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29807\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"2277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall2.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall2-77x300.jpg 77w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall2-263x1024.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gorgeous! I had to include closeups of this beautiful beast &#8211; the final painting is 48&#8243;x60&#8243; but the brushstrokes are so tiny! From across the room it&#8217;s hard to believe you&#8217;re looking at a painting &#8211; only when you get really close up <em>(which I totally did)<\/em> do you understand it is, in fact, an acrylic painting.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of flaming cars, here are some more <em>(because I love them so much!)<\/em>. I realize Sean is beginning to move on from this series, but apparently I&#8217;m not! Oh and ps. the first one below is the first car piece he ever did &#8211; thank goodness for that frustration-filled, painting defacing, wonderful turn of events:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/13\/balance-brushstrokes-burning-cars\/seanrandall3-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29818\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29818\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"3928\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Gah!<\/em> Again, so good! These are all quite big, so pretend you&#8217;re standing <em>really<\/em> close up, taking in all of the detail done with Sean&#8217;s teeny tiny brushes.<\/p>\n<p>Next, I&#8217;ve always thought the paintings from this series would make a great album cover&#8230; turns out, they do!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/13\/balance-brushstrokes-burning-cars\/seanrandall4\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29809\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29809\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"777\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall4.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/seanrandall4-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes, orange vinyl! All of this new work will be featured in his show, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayberryfineart.com\/exhibit\/533\">&#8220;IRREMEABLE&#8221;, that opens <strong>TODAY, Saturday October 14th<\/strong>\u00a0at Mayberry Fine Art in Toronto<\/a>.
