Today I&#8217;m talking to Cornwall based artist <a href=\"http:\/\/lisawrightartist.co.uk\/\">Lisa Wright<\/a>. I had so many questions for her &#8211; did she study art history, why the masks, how big are these beauties, does she like Marmite? She <em>does<\/em>.\u00a0Listen right up there under that beautiful blue &#8220;lace&#8221;, or\u00a0you can\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/podcast\/jealous-curator-art-for-your\/id996338562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">subscribe on iTunes<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>First, some of Lisa&#8217;s paintings that I wrote about a few years ago:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/26\/really-looking\/lisawright2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-30626\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30626\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"3103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright2.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright2-193x1024.jpg 193w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Oh,<\/em> I love all of them&#8230; but that girl smoking might be my favorite.\u00a0So, from there her subjects started to wear masks:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/26\/really-looking\/lisawright3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-30627\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30627\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"1913\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright3.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright3-92x300.jpg 92w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright3-313x1024.jpg 313w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Masks, inspired by the button masks of Venice. The wearer holds a button in their mouth to keep the mask on, which of course, prevents them from being able to speak. Hm. This could go in oh so many directions&#8230; and I can&#8217;t wait to see where Lisa decides to take it!<\/p>\n<p>So, Venetian masks go hand-in-hand with lace-like patterns&#8230; here they are veiling her art history-esque subjects:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/26\/really-looking\/lisawright4\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-30628\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30628\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"3723\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright4.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/lisawright4-47x300.jpg 47w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seriously&#8230; so unbelievably beautiful. And yes, I included that closeup again because that blue paint is absolutely mesmerizing.<\/p>\n<p>Next up, some of the pieces that Lisa exhibited at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.contextnyfair.com\/home\">CONTEXT New York<\/a>. I love that Lisa painted her lacy patterns all over the wall!
