That&#8217;s a detail of a quilt&#8230; a\u00a0\u00a0QUILT, by Minneapolis based artist <em>{and hilarious story teller}<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.terrencepayne.com\/\"> Terrence Payne.<\/a> I had him on the podcast almost 70 episodes ago, but when I discovered that he&#8217;d put his oil pastels down for a moment, and traded them in for a sewing machine, well, I had to have him back on. AND, I had dinner with him when I was in Wisconsin last fall, and I laughed so hard I almost broke something. He has some stories, let&#8217;s just say that. Quick warning though, there is swearing in this episode, so if you have kids around you may want to pop in some headphones instead. Seriously. I was going to bleep him, but it took away from the insanity of his stories. You&#8217;ll see what I mean. Anyway, back to ART! A quilt version of the drawing!? I thought someone had paid an homage to him&#8230; nope, TERRENCE MADE A QUILT.<\/p>\n<p>Well, he got hooked and is currently working on 12 quilts for an opening at his gallery, <a href=\"http:\/\/rosaluxgallery.com\/\">Rosalux<\/a>, at the beginning of May. I thought this was his first foray into the world of fabric stores etc, but no. Here is a 2008 installation that he did with fellow Minneapolis-based artist <a href=\"https:\/\/amy-rice-qvit.squarespace.com\/\">Amy Rice<\/a>. It was titled, <a href=\"http:\/\/nestinfo.blogspot.ca\/\"><em>&#8220;Nest : An Exhibition of Living&#8221;<\/em> <\/a>and took place in a very cool lookin&#8217; house:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2018\/04\/13\/stuff-like-that-and-quilts-ya-know\/terrencepayne5\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31334\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31334\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/terrencepayne5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"2813\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/terrencepayne5.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/terrencepayne5-62x300.jpg 62w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Ahhh,<\/em> I wish this was still around so I could <em>live<\/em> in it. Quite amazing how he can blend his work about &#8220;dystopian societies&#8221; so beautifully with commercial projects!<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and I just had to throw this in, because at the end of the day, I was super proud of this show!
