Quite a few of these pieces are oil on canvas, but you might also find\u00a0pastel, acrylic, and gouache in there too. Most of the paintings above are from Leila&#8217;s ongoing &#8216;Picnic&#8217; series&#8230; <em>ahhh,<\/em> drinking tea in a South African, flower-filled garden? That sounds perfect. Also, perfect&#8230; Leila&#8217;s enthusiasm. Literally. Here is part of her artist statement on the subject:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4 class=\"font_8\"><em><span class=\"color_30\">c. 1600, from Middle French enthousiasme (16c.) and directly from Late\u00a0Latin enthusiasmus, from Greek enthousiasmos &#8220;to be inspired or possessed by God, be\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"color_30\">rapt, be in ecstasy,&#8221; from entheos &#8220;divinely inspired, possessed by God&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><em><span class=\"color_30\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span><\/span><span class=\"color_30\">&#8220;The dominant focus as I work is the quality of my thoughts and the connection to\u00a0emotion during the creative process.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"color_30\">I always try to create from a place of inspired\u00a0action or enthusiasm. Often, negative and painful\u00a0thought patterns can come to the surface as one works, because art creation is a deeply cathartic experience.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"color_30\">Solitude also evokes deeply held memories and emotions. Keeping my focus clear, honest and joyful is a discipline similar to meditation. This is the unseen &#8216;art&#8217; that comes\u00a0with each piece of work.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"color_30\">My subject matter is either figurative or abstract representations of the \u2018dream or unseen\u2019\u00a0world,\u00a0filled with versions of South African flora and fauna.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes!
