It&#8217;s Friday November 6th, and I <i>thought<\/i> we&#8217;d know who the 46th President would be. But we don&#8217;t. I&#8217;ll wait though. <strong>COUNT EVERY VOTE<\/strong>. My guest today is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tinypricksproject\/\">Diana Weymar<\/a>, an American artist based in Canada who happens to be the woman behind the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tinypricksproject\/\">Tiny Pricks Project<\/a>. It&#8217;s a public art project that &#8220;<em>counterbalances the impermanence of Twitter and other social media, and Trump\u2019s statements by using textiles that embody warmth, craft, permanence, civility, and a shared history.&#8221; <\/em>Yep, <\/span>this episode is gonna be political, because that\u2019s the entire point of Tiny Pricks. Seriously, you can&#8217;t make this stuff up.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Diana also uses her needle and thread to capture other important moments, quotes and people. Well, as a proud Canadian, I&#8217;m not surprised at all. ; )<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of proud Canadians, here&#8217;s our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau receiving an embroidered piece from Diana, delivered via the guys from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/\">CBC&#8217;s<\/a> &#8220;Infoman&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/06\/time-capsule-within-a-time-capsule\/diana_weymar7\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37152\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/diana_weymar7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"620\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a combo of two things Trump said about Justin&#8230; <em>&#8220;He&#8217;s two faced \/ He&#8217;s a nice guy.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next up, the big, beautiful &#8216;Tiny Pricks Project&#8217; show hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/linguafrancanyc\/\">Lingua Franca<\/a> shop in New York. The entire space was literally wall-to-wall with embroidered quotes:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/06\/time-capsule-within-a-time-capsule\/diana_weymar5\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37149\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37149\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/diana_weymar5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"4183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, so, so good! And, to wrap things up, I had to share this personal piece Diana made for me. Apparently I said this on a podcast at some point, and she messaged me to ask if she could embroider it:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/06\/time-capsule-within-a-time-capsule\/diana_weymar_6\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37151\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37151\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/diana_weymar_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"565\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Obviously I said yes! But wait, then she took it one step further&#8230; she asked me to write the quote on a piece of paper and email it to her. I did, and voila, <em>my<\/em> handwriting was embroidered onto one of her grandmother&#8217;s lace handkerchiefs. <em>What?<\/em> Yes! She mailed it to me, and it now hangs in my studio. Amazingly wonderful, yes?
