To say that this episode has been a game-changer for my own artwork would be a massive understatement. This amazing woman lit a fire under me, and I have a sneaking suspicion she&#8217;s going to do the same thing to you! I mean, I am in awe. Again.<\/p>\n<p>This is <em>&#8220;Dante&#8217;s Daphne&#8221;<\/em>. Petah and I didn&#8217;t talk about it, but she mentions it in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfmoma.org\/watch\/petah-coyne-materials-are-language\/\">fabulous video she did with SFMoMA<\/a> so I thought I&#8217;d pop in here for you to see:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/20\/just-be-wonderful\/petah_coyne3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37271\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37271\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"2120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne3.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne3-423x1536.jpg 423w, https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne3-564x2048.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Sigh<\/em>. The detail she puts into each piece astounds me.<\/p>\n<p>Oooh, and this&#8230;<em> this<\/em> is the piece MoMA acquired <em>{that was one of my favorite stories from this episode!}<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/20\/just-be-wonderful\/petah_coyne4\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37272\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37272\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"2742\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d love to stand under this beauty so that I could just really, <em>really<\/em> LOOK.<\/p>\n<p>So yes, Petah often works with found objects and wax, but just look at these absolutely stunning glass pieces:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/20\/just-be-wonderful\/petah_coyne6\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37273\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37273\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"2692\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Gasp!<\/em> I saw these at <a href=\"http:\/\/glasstress.org\/my-product\/petah-coyne\/\"><em>&#8220;Glasstress&#8221;<\/em><\/a> in Venice a few years ago, but didn&#8217;t realize who the artist was. When I started down the &#8216;Petah Coyne rabbit hole&#8217; before I wrote about her last month, I came across these images and realized I actually<em> have<\/em> seen her work in person! They were breathtaking. Clearly.<\/p>\n<p>Next, I had to include some of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.petahcoyne.org\/photography\">Petah&#8217;s photography<\/a>. These are more recent than the photos she showed &#8220;at a bank in Dayton&#8221;&#8230; I believe these are from the late 1990&#8217;s &#8211; early 2000&#8217;s:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/20\/just-be-wonderful\/petah_coyne7\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-37274\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37274\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejealouscurator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/petah_coyne7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"3094\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Aren&#8217;t they gorgeous?
