i’m jealous of ed loftus

Found photo collage? Nope.
Graphite drawings? Yes.
What?! Yes, it’s true. California based artist Ed Loftus, and his trusty pencil amaze me. There was a great article in The New York Times about him last December. Apparently he has struggled with OCD since childhood, but if there’s a silver lining… it’s his unbelievable artwork. According to that article “…the works are rendered in painstaking detail — partly a result of the disorder — and a single piece can take up to five months to complete. In the last three years, Mr. Loftus has produced 10 works.”
Slow, and probably painful, but what an amazing result.

I have been grappling with the concept of drawing garbage/dumps for years, I never thought of keeping the garbage in the bags. Beautiful!

I hadn’t seen those. Beautiful. I’m going to have to find my own way on this concept. The bags are eating me up inside today!
That’s something I can’t wait to discuss on March 10…..how to keep remaining inspired and move forward when you see something that makes you say (in your words) “damn, I wish I thought of that”!

i can’t wait til march 10th too… my whole world is about finding inspiration and then moving forward! it’s hard, but you can do it!
