i’m jealous of ronald ceuppens

I minored in print making back in my BFA days, so I have always had a place in my heart for it… add some embroidery {and a little chine-colle}, and well, I’m completely smitten! Belgium based artist Ronald Ceuppens combines lovely etchings, inspired by his daily nature walks, and just the right amount of red thread. I wish I had thought of that… it might have helped me get an A+ in etching class!
{Thanks to Erna Reiken for a link to this work.}
i’m jealous of pernille snedker hansen

I’m going to be perfectly honest… I’m not entirely sure what we’re looking at here. According to Danish artist Pernille Snedker Hansen, these are “exclusive one-off marbeling prints”. Hm. Ok, I think it might have something to do with wood {they look kind of woodgrain-ish, right?}, but the only reason I think that is because of the insanely beautiful wood floors she also creates. Oh well, however she does it, the result is absolutely gorgeous… and I want all of them!

i’m jealous of miranda skoczek

Warm grey. Ahh, I have a huge spot in my heart for warm grey {please note my own branding!}. Yes, I absolutely love the color choices made by Melbourne based artist Miranda Skoczek… and don’t even get me started on those deer, diamonds, and lovely brush strokes.

i’m jealous of tokujin yoshioka

Gorgeous Hermes scarves, video of a beautiful woman, and a strategically placed wind machine. This story is not new, but that doesn’t make it any less brilliant. Japanese artist Tokujin Yoshioka installed this piece at Maison Hermes in Toyko over the 2009 ~ 2010 Christmas holidays. Oh, how I wish I had seen this in person, but I didn’t, so I guess You Tube will have to do… sigh, so beautiful.
{ps. you really do have to see this in action! Go – you’ll love it!}
i’m jealous of cassia beck

Oh, so pretty… and oddly familiar. These photographs are the work of Brighton based artist Cassia Beck, but each one also feels like it could be an image from my own memory… sorting buttons with my grandmother, collecting pinecones with my mom, and I’m almost certain that my sister and I had that pink rose wallpaper in our room when were little. Now, if I could just get my hands on those tights, and a some of those shoes, I’d be all set!
i’m still jealous of langdon graves

I wrote about Brooklyn based artist Langdon Graves almost exactly one year ago. I came across some of her work {graphite drawings on mylar} that I hadn’t seen before, and I could not stop myself from writing again. Thick glasses, side pony-tails, and bunny-handed girls… oh yes, I’m still completely smitten ♥
i’m jealous of hilary faye

Ahh, beautifully composed collages by Melbourne based artist Hilary Faye… lovely, whimsical, and um, more than slightly uncomfortable {yeah, I’m talking to you, guy with a bird beak in your ear!}
i’m jealous of aili schmeltz

Orange thread… mountains… gold… stripes… wood… STOP! I can’t take any more – it’s all so amazing! I love these sculptures by LA based artist Aili Schmeltz. Stunning, sharp geometric shapes married perfectly with soft organic elements. I was going to try to explain what this work is all about, but it will be so much easier to let Aili do it:
My most recent body of work examines my fascination and love/hate relationship with the city of Los Angeles, where I currently live. Los Angeles has a sordid environmental history as a strange apocalyptic theme park. It’s plush, manicured landscape is a reminder of both a forced growth in an otherwise desert geography and as a monument to man’s ingenuity made possible by diverting an unfathomable amount of water from distant sources. I am fascinated by the hybridized structures and blatant artifice of the city in both it’s natural and man made environments where hill top homes float precariously overhead on earth that has a topographical complexity of embedded catastrophe.
{I found the gold piece, titled quite appropriately, “Bling”, on the always fabulous Design for Mankind}
i’m jealous of kaylee hibbert

Gorgeous, insanely detailed geometric embroidery… but hold on, it’s gets even better. This work by UK based artist Kaylee Hibbert is actually {wait for it}… stitched wallpaper. Gasp! Amazing, no?

i’m jealous of ryan stewart nault

Whoa, very cool work {oh, and also, he’s only 20 years old}… double whoa. Chicago based artist Ryan Stewart Nault is the latest artist to have his work featured on Little Paper Planes. I saw these paintings for the first time yesterday, and immediately loved them. Elements from nature, strange planes intersecting with eachother, and amazing color palettes featuring that fantastic coral pink… Ok, now I’m at triple ‘whoa.’
{All five of these paintings can be purchased as prints on LPP… just click right here!}
