Ok, I’m not sure if I could pull off any of these looks… it takes a special woman to wear a shark, and not have it wear her, am I right? Well, these lovely ladies had some help form Swedish born, Milan-based artist/illustrator Daniel Egnéus. He transforms his daydreams into washy, beautiful, totally engaging paintings, and I love every single one of them… hmm, what about a goose hat? Do you think I could make that work?

can’t. breathe. so. jealous. maybe I’ll just sit down for a minute…
Ok, I’m feeling a little better. So, where were we? Oh yes, this insanely gorgeous work by Inge Jacobsen. Embroidery thread stitched directly onto the pages of high fashion magazines. Uh-oh, I’m getting dizzy again… I think the only way I’ll truly feel better, is if I own one of these pieces. Maybe the horse. Yes, that would help. A lot.

Yesterday, someone on Twitter said that I wrote about Buenos Aires based artist Laura Guarie… I didn’t… but I wish I had.. so now I did. Love. #happytwitteraccident
Villejavat – I know nothing about you, yet I kind of love you… you with your flowery horses, mountain stretches, and polished rocks. Sigh.
I can’t even bring myself to call this jewelry. Nope, it’s art, and that’s all there is to it! However, there’s no need for a gallery display case because Debra Baxter has designed this insanely beautiful wearable art, to slip directly onto your fingers. Want some more proof that these aren’t just rings? Ok, would a piece of plain old jewelry have a title like this… “Crystal Brass Knuckles (I am going to realign your chakras mother******!)” See? It’s definitely art.
{…aaannnd, it just so happens that my birthday is only days away, so feel free to buy me one of these… No? Ok, well at least pop over to sfgirlbybay for my pre-birthday ‘curated collection’ of cakes!}
You know the expression “being at the right place, at the right time”… yep, well, that totally applies to the work of Swiss-born, Paris based artist Felice Varini. At first glance I assumed these were just geometric designs digitally layered over a photograph… I was wrong. They are in fact geometric designs painted directly onto actual buildings, but, the trick is, you must be standing at an exact point to see them, otherwise they appear as random broken lines (as seen above). Yeah, I know… Ah- mazing!

Oh, how I wish I could step into the pages of this wordless book, by Rotterdam based artist Masha Krasnova-Shabaeva… although, the gas masks are a little disconcerting. Oh well, I could deal with that. I think it would be worth it to wander through magnified gardens, ride giant bumper cars in a city square, and spend sunny afternoons poolside with sea lions. Hmm, and maybe after a dip in that pool I’ll grab my crayons and get started on those fantastic coloring book pages. See… who needs words? This story really just writes itself!
{Thank you to my nameless friend at Junkculture for knowing that I’d love Masha’s work… xo}
I have drawn on a lot of things, so why, oh why, has it never occurred to me to draw on stones? Damn. Well, clearly Yoran Morvant realized that rock is the new paper. Sigh… intricately hand-drawn lines, patiently layered into stunning patterns on smooth, grey stones. I said ‘damn’ already, right?
{ps. You can buy these lovely pieces at Ashes & Milk.}
Ok, that’s it, you’re all invited over for fancy cake on fancy plates… but I call dibs on that gun! Hm, on second thought, let’s just use our hands, and I’ll hang these gorgeous ceramic pieces, by Vancouver based artist Laura McKibbon, on the wall where they belong. Yes – that’s a much better, although somewhat messier, plan.
Los Angeles based artist Kevin Appel makes me want to dust off that stack of old National Geographics in the corner of my studio, and get to work! Found images, collage, and a whole bunch of oh so beautiful white space… yep, I’m jealous.
{…thanks so much to Elizabeth, from the littlest blog, for sending me a link to Kevin’s work.}
