A candy-hued, geometric wonderland set against an aqua sky. Oh, the photographs of Munich based photographer Nick Frank. Here’s the description of this series, titled Mira:

“Mira” is a shopping center located at Munich/Germany Dülferstrasse. I found the colourful facade very interesting which stands in contrast to the part of the city where the building has been built. The entire Mira series has been published in the book “geometry makes me happy“.

And, just so you can see how truly special his perspective is, here’s the shopping center in its entirety…

Kind of a weird building in the middle of a field, right? His angles, use of light, and compositions turn this weird building in the middle of a field into that candy-hued, geometric wonderland I mentioned twenty seconds ago. Love.

House. Plants. Ahhh, I never ever get tired of writing about Amsterdam based artist Hagar van Heummen. Embroidery and bits of photographs mingled together into these bold, modern-with-a-vintage-feel, beautifully composed pieces. LOVE.

Now this was fun! Artist/designer Stacy Altiery makes lovely prints, specializing in gold foil. She reached out and asked if I’d like to collaborate… she would do the typesetting design and production – I would come up with the words and paper colors… UM, ok!!! The phrases {and quote} I chose are all things that seem to come up over and over again when I talk to people about my book, CREATIVE BLOCK. I thought it would be fun to take a few of these thoughts and turn them into gold {on your choice of white, pink, mint or charcoal no less!}. Stacy and I decided to make them into lucite trays so that you can actually use these gems in your studio! The next time you’re in there, reaching for a pin or a bead or a bit of paper you’ll get a little creative reminder, like…

HA! This is the one I got for my studio… ah yes, there’s just something about seeing Asshole typeset in gold script on a pretty pink background! LOVE.

Found paintings, a touch of neon, and perfectly cropped photographs from the personal collection of Madrid architect/designer Melissa Dupont. So fun, so bold, and a great way to end the week!

Plein air watercolor paintings. Um, where on earth would you have to live in order for THIS to be the magical candy-hued landscape that you were painting plein air? This is the wonderful watercolor work of Tasmanian born, Borneo based painter Jennifer Tyers… oh, well that explains it! {These are actually pieces she did in Singapore, and Sarawak, but you get the idea!}

The designer and collage artist in me are both very happy! Architectural yet loose … drawing mixed beautifully with collage… AND vintage match box covers!? Love, love, love! These pieces are the work of UK based artist Ken Omom, and it’s safe to say that I love all of them very, very much. I think those are the actual striking strips pasted on there! So cool… but don’t let your kids near them #safetyfirst #striking

Sometimes, it’s what’s not there that truly matters most! I was in a collage-ish {not a word, but just roll with it} mood today, and voila, the portfolio of UK based artist Joe Webb. An x-acto blade, gorgeous color choices, and a whole bunch of perfect {and romantic!} negative space… SWOON!

Sweet, and weird… yep, easily one of my favorite combinations! These are one of a kind, paper mache “creature” masks by London based artist Abigail Brown. Each one is so special, and funny, and cute, and yes, kinda weird. I love each of them, but hung together in a cluster? Oh boy… it’s like a beautifully bizarre zoo hanging on the wall! LOVE. ps. that happy little sloth is killing me with his cuteness. [Available in her shop]

You guys are amazing. For lots of reasons, but the reason I’m saying thank you today, is because of how supportive you are of artists! You are also ridiculously supportive of me, which I appreciate so, so much! Two months ago, when I opened GALLERYONE, my little online gallery shop, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would it just sit there quietly? Nope… you guys have gone crazy! Lots of prints, quite a few originals, and my book have found new homes with so many of you. Thank you. That thank you comes from me, and all of the artists that you support every time you buy pieces from GALLERYONE.

And so, to really say thank you properly, I’ve teamed up with the very talented watercolor painter, Oregon based artist Kiana Mosley. She has donated a gorgeous 11″x14″ print {valued at $65} of this exclusive piece she made specifically for me! I’m going to keep an eye on my gallery over the weekend, and I’ll pick a name from everyone that buys something (there really is so much affordable art over there!) between now and Monday morning at 9am … I’ll announce the name, and then Kiana will ship out this lovely, leafy piece! Sigh. Sometimes at the end of a very long, busy week, there is nothing I love more than a giant, expressive, insanely-colorful bouquet of flowers. Thank goodness for American painter Erin Fitzhugh Gregory… these are exactly what I need today  ♥
