i’m jealous of alma haser

So, you know how I don’t really like having my photo taken, right? Well, I would have no problem being added to UK based artist Alma Haser‘s “Cosmic Surgery” series! I absolutely LOVE this collage meets portrait thing she’s got going on here. Alma, if you read this… let’s talk!

Ok… it’s time, but I just quickly want to say, thank you all so much for your lovely comments! It warms my heart to hear all of your very sweet messages… granted, you’re probably just trying to win this fabulous prize, but I’m going to take all of your compliments anyway! ; )
So, I’m sitting at my favorite cafe, and I just asked the baristas to pick a number between 1 and 398….

Susan! (… the Susan with lslkmiller in her email address) you’ve got 9 gorgeous prints, and one gnome on a wiener dog messenger bag coming your way! Ok. It’s official… now I’m totally jealous of you! (I’ll email you for your address etc). Thanks so much to everyone that entered – I wish I had 398 things to give away xo
i’m jealous of alexandra valenti

i’m jealous of tinca veerman

Ah, the foggy, soft, haunting portraits of Amsterdam based artist Tinca Veerman. I’m not sure how she did this {I’m not a photographer in any way!}, but I love the effect. I feel like I’m looking at these girls through a steamed pane of glass. So pretty… and just a tiny bit creepy.
{one day left to leave a comment for the big give-away! scroll down to yesterday’s post… good luck!}
it’s here…

1000 posts. WHAT?! Now that’s a lot of jealousy… the good kind, that is! And, by “the good kind”, I mean the kind that punches you in the creative gut, and instead of stopping you in your tracks, inspires you to get back into the studio so that you can work your artsy butt off! To put it bluntly.
I have to admit, I’m really proud of hitting 1000 posts, and so I want to celebrate! But before we do, I want to thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart, for showing up every day and reading/being jealous too! Now… how to celebrate? I reached out to a few of the lovely people that I’ve met over the past three years, and they all generously donated a little something for me to give to you. I have to be honest, I wish I could enter! But I can’t… right? Right : ( Ok, so all you have to do is leave a comment below, and on Thursday September 13th, at 12pm PST I’m going to draw one winner. Yep, one winner who will get all of these prints:

Whoa! I hope you have a lot of frames, and a lot of blank wall space! Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, I got an email from one of my readers who offered to throw in one of her very cute messenger bags:

A gnome on a wiener dog? How could I not take Amy up on her lovely offer! So there you have it. Leave a comment below, and I’ll let you know who won on Thursday… and with that, here’s to 1000 more posts!
{Huge thanks, and big hugs, to 1. Victoria Smith 2. Tali Yalonetzki 3. Hollie Chastain 4. Lisa Golightly 5. Leah Giberson 6. Jennifer Davis 7. Alyson Fox 8. Amy Fancher} xo!
i’m jealous of robi jõeleht

An explosion of color, a zillion textures, and the perfect amount of white space. Oh, so gorgeous. All of these stunning collages are part of a series, titled “Growth”, by Robi Jõeleht… sigh. Love.
i’m still jealous of hagar van heummen

Um… little houses AND embroidery? Yes. This is a direct path to my heart! I wrote about Amsterdam based artist Hagar Vardimon-van Heummen last year, and then yesterday I saw her latest body of work… well, you know I had to post it! These pieces are from a series titled “Lonely Houses”. Hm, they wouldn’t be lonely if they were hanging together in my house! But wait, there’s more! Look at these strange little gems:

Sigh. Gorgeous. And with that, have an amazing weekend! Make sure you come by on Tuesday… it’s my 1000th post, which can only mean one thing – it’s time for “THE 1000th POST GIVE-AWAY EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!” Seriously. Some amazing artists have donated work that I’ll be bundling up and sending off to one of you! Can I get a ‘woot woot’!
i’m jealous of serena cole

Whoa. Lovely, and kinda weird…. my favorite combo! These portraits are the work of American artist Serena Cole. I was in Minneapolis in June, and I wish I was still there because Serena has a show opening at SooVAC on September 15th. If you’re there… go!
i’m jealous of jane schmidt

Well hello sweetness! I found these gouachie little gems on Buy Some Damn Art today. They are the work of American artist Jane Schmidt, and I think they are just the loveliest things ever! Candy-hued backgrounds, strange vintage bits n’ pieces, and oh my… that pig with his Paris snow globe… ♥
i’m jealous of jonathan fuller

SEA GLASS! I love sea glass, and have collected it periodically over the years… but I could never figure out what to do with it. Well, UK based artist Jonathan Fuller clearly had a plan for the bits of wave-worn glass he’s gathered along the Cornish coastline. Beautifully gradated sea glass, embedded into cut wood panels. Ahh, so lovely.
