i’m jealous of lauren clay

Whoa… now that’s my kind of wreath! American artist Lauren Clay makes the most beautiful sculptures using acrylic on cut paper, papier-mâché, wire, and wood… sigh… so, so amazing. Santa? Are you reading this by any chance? I hope so! And on that note, I’d like to wish all of you a lovely, sparkly, inspiration-filled holiday! I was planning on taking a break next week, but if something makes me jealous… I’ll have no choice but to write! See you soon ~ Danielle xo

i’m jealous of matthias merkel hess

I would probably spend a lot more time in my laundry room if I had a basket like this! It’s ceramic. All of these lovely objects are ceramic, and all of them are part of the current show at LA’s ACME Gallery. American artist Matthias Merkel Hess has titled this show, Bucketry, and it is full of amazing ceramic pieces inspired by every day containers. Ok, sure, it would much harder to carry a ceramic laundry basket around the house, but I think it’s worth a try… DON’T DROP IT THOUGH!!!

{Bucketry runs until December 21st. Thanks to Junkculture for finding this work!}

i’m jealous of vera moller

I love these gorgeous, organic, graphic ceramic sculptures by German {Australian based} artist Vera Möller. Wouldn’t it be amazing, and quite frankly kinda magical, to find a few of these little things “growing” on the forest floor while out for a morning stroll…

Yes. Yes it would.

i’m jealous of malin gabriella nordin

Yesterday was all about cardboard crystals, but today… hello paper mache rocks! Malin Gabriella Nordin has a portfolio full of all sorts of amazing mixed media work {as you can see}, but oh, how I love those little paper mache rocks!

i’m jealous of lydia shirreff

Sigh. I love all of this gorgeous work by London based artist Lydia Shirreff. Diamond-ish crystals mounted on the wall {titled ‘growth’}, white concrete floor buckling up from below {titled ‘terrain’}, and don’t even get me started on that amazing wall full of shelves displaying tiny, colorful, geometric specimens {titled Animal, Mineral, Vegetable}… oh. my. word… that wall!

i’m jealous of alex mcleod

Oh my. Do you think it would be possible for me to move into one of these stunning, imaginary worlds by Canadian artist Alex McLeod? Yes!? Oh good… me too! I hope you all have a candy-colored, shiny, puffy-cloud kind of weekend ~ I’ll be in that little cabin in the first image in case anyone needs me ~ see you on Monday!

i’m jealous of elsa mora

Whoa. I want an entire table top covered in these gorgeous little ceramic pieces by Cuban, now LA based, artist Elsa Mora. She is best known for her paper-cutting work {which is amazing}, but I absolutely fell in love with these strange, delicate bits and pieces of porcelain. They feel very medical to me… in a totally organic, nature-inspired, biology class kind of way!

ps. those feet! i love those feet!

i’m jealous of ernesto neto

I want to spend the entire weekend in any one of these installations by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto. Strolling through breezy/delicate tent worlds, exploring plushy pink organic rooms, or lying around  {just like those lucky people right up there!} in a giant, pink, shape-forming cushion of relaxation. Ahhh…

ps. thanks to Sofie for leaving a comment below… apparently, those strange hanging pieces are actually filled with spices, so the whole exhibition room smells amazing!

i’m jealous of confettisystem

Oh my word… I want to live inside the sparkly, colorful, joyous world that is CONFETTISYSTEM. Seriously, doesn’t this inspire you to make sparkly, colorful, joyous stuff?! YES… me too!!! Here’s who they are, and what they do:

CONFETTISYSTEM is Nicholas Andersen and Julie Ho, a duo working as artists, stylists, and designers. A friendship born from their shared love of communal celebration and craft-making has brought them together to create a new system.

CONFETTISYSTEM transforms simple materials such as tissue paper, cardboard, and silk into interactive objects that create a point of focus, where memories are made and a spontaneous collaboration with the viewer is sparked. CONFETTISYSTEM’s creations occupy the space between the ephemeral and the permanent, evoking a sense of nostalgia and lighthearted fun.

And I repeat… oh. my. word.

i’m jealous of andreas senoner

Somber, simple wooden figures… wearing Mickey Mouse ears, bunny ears, and just a touch of argyle! I absolutely love the work of Italian artist Andreas Senoner. They make me happy and sad all at the same time. Lovely.

{If you like this work, have a look at another Italian that I’ve written about before, Willy Verginer.}
