i’m jealous of henteco

Art that I can eat. Ok, this is a first on The Jealous Curator, but come on, you can’t tell me that these sugary little masterpieces aren’t art?!?! They’re soooo lovely, and probably very delicious! They are made by a pastry shop in Japan called henteco. I want to hang them on my wall… and then dip them in a glass of milk and eat ’em up! Mmmm.

i’m jealous of amy friend… again

Photographs. Huh? Canadian photographer Amy Friend amazed me earlier this year, and then again today with this work. These images are from her series titled Timekeeper. I’m not sure how she did this {this applies to all of her work actually!}, but I absolutely love the dreamy, painterly feel that she has created here. Gor.Ge.Ous!

i’m jealous of charlotte mei

That’s it… from now on, I’m choosing my breakfast plate based on the mood I wake up in:

I’m hoping that ‘happy toast’ wins out most mornings! London based artist/illustrator Charlotte Mei has a portfolio full of drawings and illustrations, but it was her ceramics that got me. Grumpy, surprised, & sad plates… and of course, my favorite, some happy toast. ♥

i’m still jealous of jeremy miranda

I wrote about American artist Jeremy Miranda‘s icebergs over a year ago, but I have no idea how I missed all of this! Let’s start with some muted palettes, and two of his lovely greenhouses, shall we:

Gorgeous! And for some crazy color, and a trip to somewhere much too warm for an iceberg:

Sigh… love.

i’m jealous of andy harman

This is like a gigantic, knotty flashback to my youth. For some strange reason, my father {a PhD scientist} loved doing macrame!? Yep, we’re talking planters, guitar straps, and several beady-eyed owls… but none of them were quite like this one! New York based artist Andy Harman has given me a new appreciation for this 1970’s art form with this awesomely gigantic piece, titled  “The Owl”. Look at those huge wooden eyes? Dad, you might want to get some more twine!

i’m jealous of jim lambie

Tape. In elaborate, perfect patterns. On the floor… which is where I currently am. Yep, I’m in complete awe of these insane installations by Scottish artist Jim Lambie. I can’t even imagine the patience something like this would take. Whoa. Ok, so maybe I’ll just stay down on the ground until I catch my breath – see you on Monday! Happy weekend : )

i’m still jealous of matthias heiderich

Yowza. I wrote about Berlin based artist Matthias Heiderich and his “Snow Blind” series almost two years ago. And then I saw these. I wish you could see me as I write this. I’m wearing an aqua sweater, and a bright yellow belt. Seriously. Sigh. Yep, I absolutely love these striking, simple, bold photographs. The end.

i’m jealous of angie iver

Exercise instructions for artists? Perhaps! This is the strange/lovely work of Düsseldorf based artist Angie Iver. Ahh, such black blacks, and oh so many lovely shapes. This is the kind of “how to” guide I need for my work out routine… and apparently, to really do it right, I’m going to need some heels:

… and a cigarette!

i’m jealous of toni silber-delerive

These lovely rooftops {and pools!} by New York based artist Toni Silber-Delerive make me want to hop on a plane to just about anywhere… or move to the suburbs! So simple, gorgeous colors, and such a lovely view of the world.

i’m jealous of lisa rodden

Whoa. I am in complete awe of Australian artist Lisa Rodden. I would never ever ever be able to create work with such insane precision {especially those last two geometric pieces!!!}. And so, on this fine Monday morning, I must reiterate… whoa.
